By now, we have all seen the devastating images coming out of Buffalo. While we hope that we do not get a storm of that magnitude any time soon (or EVER), it is in fact inevitable that Old Man Winter will have the Greater Rochester area in his grasp sooner than later. Am I the only one who has watched the television in HORROR thinking to myself, "Where is all of that water going to go when this mess melts off??" I think not.
If you took heed to our advice and made sure that your gutters were clean before the first accumulating snowfall, they should adequately drain water from your roof and down your downspouts. However, in HEAVY snow pack, do you want all of that water coming down the downspouts and ponding around your foundation? NO!
So, what do you do? Create a diversion, of course! Add extensions to your downspouts so that water runs at least 3 to 4 feet away from the foundation of your home, thus preventing flooding, which NO ONE has time for! Extension kits can be purchased relatively cheaply at most hardware and home improvement stores, and installation is relatively easy. If you don't have the time or energy to do it yourself, give us a call, and we can give you a quote to come out and get this done for you before problems arise.
A dry basement is a happy basement, and downspout extensions will help to keep it that way!
