Part Four - Turn Off Outdoor Faucets

I know it's hard to face, but summer is over. The need to water outdoor plants and grass has come to an end, and unless you are certifiably CRAZY, you won't be washing your car outside in sub freezing temperatures. So, there is no use to have you exterior faucets on. It's time to turn them off!

Undrained water in your pipes can freeze and expand, causing pipes to burst and creating a nightmare for an unsuspecting homeowner. If you do not have fost proof faucets (if they are more than 15 years old, chances are they are NOT), turn off the shut off inside your home, disconnect all hoses, and drain the water that remain in the pipes. Viola! You (and your faucets) are ready for winter!

Bring on the snow! Sorry, I didn't really mean that!
